ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL,
DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE
COUNCIL ROOM, CITY HALL, JANUARY 10,
1955 AT 8:00 P.M.
CALL TO ORDER. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kenneth G. Meyer who presided
with Alderman Hansen, Schubert, Wolf, Tures, Behrel, Harm, Auck, Dahl, Blume and McKay
responding to roll call.
The Mayor informed the Council the meeting had been adjourned for this night to open
the bids on improving the water system. On motion by Alderman Dahl and seconded by
Behrel the Council approved to open the bids. City Engineer Fletcher assisted the City
Clerk by reading the following bids:

ADOPT PAY ROLL 1955 ORDINANCE. The Clerk read for second read -ng the 1955 Pay -Roll
Ordinance. The motion was made by Alderman Blume and seconded by Schubert to adopt
the ordinance. The item $833.33 per month for City Manager was requested to be
eliminated only to read 35,000 per year. The Mayor put the que tion and the Clerk
called the roll with the following result: Ayes: Alderman Hans n, Schubert, Wolf,
7.0 Tures, Behrel, Harm, Auck, Dahl, Blume and McKay. Nays: None. The Mayor declared
,the motion carried with correction made.
CORNELL & CO'S. CUMBERLAED WEST PLAT TO BE APPROVED AFTER SEWER (CONNECTION FEE IS
PLACED IN ESCROW. The motion was made by Alderman Dahl and seconded by Auck to
approve the Cornell & Company's Cumberland West Plat and the Mayor and Clerk be
authorized to sign same after the sewer connection fee is placed in escrow. The
Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following result:
Ayes: Alderman Hansen, Schubert, Wolf, Tures, Behrel, Harm, Auc , Dahl, Blume, and
McKay. Nays: Nbne. The Mayor declared the motion carried.
Alderman Blume reported the following on Motel Ordinance: wilding Control and
Inspection Committees investigated the Motel Ordinance and met WIith the representative
of the party involved and the committee recommends that the orditnance be changed to
permit a "minimum and not maximum number of units." The Committee therefore recom-
mends that a permit be granted for the construction of this motel pending the
ordinance change mentioned above. On motion by Alderman Blume and seconded by Behrel.
the Council approved that the City Attorney amend the Motel Ordipance. Alderman Dahl
requested his no vote be recorded.
ADJOURNMENT. The motion was made by Alderman Tures and seconded py Hansen to adjourn.
The motion was voted upon by acclamation and the Mayor declared the motion carried.
