CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kenneth G. Meyer who presided with Alderman Hansen, Schubert, Wolf, Tures, Schallawitz, Jacobs, Behrel, Harm, Prickett, Blume, Davis and McKay. A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines, Illinois, is hereby called, pursuant to the request of Mayor Kenneth G. Meyer, to be held on Monday, September 28, 1953 at 8:00 P.M. in the Council Chamber, Municipal Building, Des Plaines, Illinois, for the following purpose: THE AMENDING OF THE LIQUOR ORDINANCE FROM 13 - CLASS A TAVERN LICENSES TO 12 - CLASS A AND 4 - CLASS B - BULK SALES LICENSE TO 5 - CLASS B LICENSE, AND ANY SUCH BUSINESS AS MAY 'COME BEFORE THE MEETING. The Clerk read for first reading the following proposed ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECT ION 9 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE REGU- LATING THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC LIQUORS IN THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, PASSED DECEMBER 15, 1941 AS AMENDED" BE TT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Des Plaines, Cook County, Illinois: Section 1. That Section 9 of an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance Regulating the Sale of Alcoholic Liquors in the City of Des Plaines, Passed December 15, 1941 as Amended", be amended to read as follows: Section 9. Limitation There shall not be more than twelve (12) Class "A" licenses and five (5) Class "B" licenses issued and outstanding during any one calendar year. 98 9-28-53 APPROVED: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9 Continued. Illinois Bell Telephone Company Franchise Ordinance. The Clerk read for first reading the following proposed ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO THE ILLINOIS BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY, ITS LESSEES, SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, CERTAIN RIGHTS IN THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, COOK COUNTY,ILLINOIS. The Mayor referred the ordinance to the Municipal Development Committee. Mayor Meyer informed the Council that there was no ordinance on air conditioning. After discussion the matter was referred to the City Attorney and Building Permit Committee. The Clerk was instructed to notify the Building Commissioner to refer all air conditioning to the Building Permit Committee. Alderman Behrel reported that when he was Chairman of the Public Protection Committee that it was intended to have a school traffic light at Perry and Des Plaines Avenue. On motion by Alderman Behrel and seconded by Schubert the City Engineer is to get estimates and cost fbr school traffic light at Perry and Des Plaines Avenue. The Clerk informed the Council he had a letter from State Highway Engineer regarding 1951 one-year construction program on Motor Fuel Tax and that Engineer Fletcher would prepare the program. Agreement with Illinois Tool Company on Well No. 3. The Clerk informed the Council he had the agreement from Illinois Tool Company for Well No. 3. The motion was made by Alderman Wolf and seconded by Jacobs to authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the agreement. The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following result: Ayes: Alderman Hansen, Schubert, Wolf,Tures, Schallowitz, Jacolls, Behrel, Harm, Prickett, Blume, Davis and McKay. Nays: None. The Mayor thereupon declared the motion carried. On motion by Alderman Wolf and seconded by Davis the Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on fuel oil to be returned October 7, 1953 meeting. On motion by Alderman Wolf and seconded by Tures the Building and Mobile Equipment were granted permission to repair the City Garage Building rented by Jordan Manufacturing Company for not to exceed $500.00.
