Approval of Minutes The motion was made by Alderman Wolf and, seconded by Schallawitz to approve the minutes of April 20th and adjourned meeting of April 27, 1953. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon the Mayor declared the motion carried. Official Reports The Clerk submitted the reports of Building Commissioner and City Clerk for April. Department of Commerce letter on Census. The,Clerk read a letter from the Dept. of Commerce regarding information concerning a special census. The Mayor defered action on letter to hold over for new Council. The Clerk read a letter from Highway Department which gave approval of revised plans of proposed gates at Soo Line Graceland Avenue crossing. The Clerk read a letter from Chicago & Northwestern Railway replying regarding dumping garbage and rubbish in yards near Cumberland terrace. The employees have been instruot .d to discontinue the dumping. On request of Alderman McKay the Clerk was instructed to write and asked to have the garbage removed. The Clerk read a letter from the Soo Line regarding car used for living quarters of employees at Soo Line station. They desired to know what the objections are because the employees are gentlemen and have conducted themselves accordingly, The Mayor said he would write to the Soo Line. 5/4/53 Zoning Application approved Lot 47 Block 7, J.C. Mr. Napier then presented Rev. P. A. Bitd who gave the invocation. Mr. Napier then introduced Police Magistrate, A. L. Sengstock, who was then installed by City Clerk, Otto W. J. Henrich. Magistrate Sengstock then installed all the newly elected officials after which Mayor Kenneth G. Meyer gave his opening address. All the other officials then made short addresses. Walter Morava the only retiring Alderman then presented a new silk flag for the Council Chambers with an inspiring address. Council Reconvenes Mayor Kenneth G.
