11/03/1975383 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CIVIC CENTER, MONDAY, November 3, 1975 CALL PO ORDER: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines was called to order at 8:05 P.M. by City Clerk Rohrbach in the City Council Chambers, Des Plaines Civic Center. ROLL CALL: Roll Call indicated the following aldermen present: Koplos, Szabo, Sullivan, Olen, Bolek, Leer, Brannigan, Kisslinger, Birchfield, Erbach, Kraves, Sarlo, Meyer, Seitz, Abrams, Ward. Also present were: Comptroller Blietz, Police Chief Hintz, Fire Chief Corey, Commissioner of Public Works Schwab, Planner Richardson, Engineer Bowen, Building Commissioner Baldaccini, Environmental Control Officer Lindahl, City Treasurer Mahon, Police Captain Blume , and City Attorney Hug. CHAIRMAN Moved by Seitz, seconded by Olen, to nominate Alderman PRO TEM Kisslinger as Chairman Protem for this meeting in the absence of Mayor Behrel. Moved by Koplos, seconded by Meyer, to nominate Alderman Bolek as Chairman Pro Tem. Moved by Alderman Meyer, seconded by Alderman Seitz, that nominations be closed. Motion declared carried. Alderman Bolek withdrew himself from nomination. Moved by Seitz, seconded by Meyer to confirm election of Alderman Kisslinger Chairman Pro Tem of this evening's meeting. Motion declared carried. PRAYER & The meeting opened with prayer by City Clerk Rohrbach, followed PLEDGE by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. PARKING Moved by Leer, seconded by Seitz, to adopt the recommendation CIVIC CENTER of Buildings, Grounds and Parking Lots Committee to advertise for bids on November 17th returnable on December 15th at 3 p.m. in the City Clerks Office for the parking facility to serve Des Plaines Civic Center per plan Nos. 1, 2, and 3 as prepared by Holmes and Fox Architects. PAGING Moved by Leer, seconded by Erbach, to adopt the recommendation SYSTEM of Public Buildings, Grounds and Parking Lots Committee to award the contract for the Paging System for the Police Building to the low bidder, Interstate Electronics Co. of Alsip, Ill. for $1,367.00 and return checks of unsuccessful bidders. ELECTRICAL CODE RESOLUTION R-18-75 Unit Pricing ORDINANCE M-43-75 Taxis Following questioning of Building Commissioner Baldaccini re Electrical Code violations at Holy Family Hospital, Alderman Olen's request for amendment to City's Code to include Chicago Electrical Code of 1975 was referred to Building Control and Inspection Committee. Upon continuing questioning of Building Commissioner Baldaccini re letter directed to Mayor Behrel with reference to pre-employment committments, it was moved by Ward, seconded by Olen, to defer action on the matter until the Mayor returns from vacation stating matters of this nature should be discussed at executive session.
