OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD
IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CIVIC
CENTER, MONDAY, October 20, 1975
CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Des
Plaines was called to order at 8:09 P.M. by Mayor Herbert H.
Behrel in the City Council Chambers, Des Plaines Civic Center.
ROLL CALL:
Roll Call indicated the following aldermen present:
Koplos, Szabo, Sullivan, Olen, Bolek, Leer, Brannigan,
Kisslinger, Birchfield, Erbach, Kraves, Sarlo, Meyer,
Seitz, Abrams, Ward.
Also present were: Comptroller Blietz, Police Chief Hintz, Fire Chief Corey,
Commissioner of Public Works Schwab, Planner Richardson, Engineer Bowen,
Building Commissioner Baldaccini, Environmental Control Officer Lindahl,
City Treasurer Mahon, Police Captain Blume, and City Attorney Hug.
PRAYER AND The meeting opened with prayer by Rev. Ernest Grant, pastor
PLEDGE of First Congregational Church, followed by the Pledge of
Allegiance to the flag.

Moved by Sarlo, seconded by Birchfield, to approve the
Minutes of the regular meeting of October 6, 1975, as
Published. Correction, Page Four, first paragraph,
Adding Alderman Seitz to those aldermen voting AYe and
in Paragraph Two, adding Alderman Seitz to those voting AYE.
Following correction, motion declared carried.
Moved by Bolek, seconded by Seitz, to adopt the following
resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DES PLAINES THAT THE FOLLOWING BILLS ARE DUE AND PAYABLE

paid for from Federal Revenue Sharing Funds, to the low
bidder, Northwest Dodge, Inc., in the amount of $6,235.38.

tion of Municipal Development Committee to concur with
Zoning Board of Appeals in Case 75-42-V, 682 Laurel Avenue
and authorize City Attorney to draft ordinance for further

Moved by Szabo, seconded by Erbach, to adopt the recommenda-
tion of Municipal Development Committee to concur with
Zoning Board of Appeals in Case 75 -41 -RV, 1401 Redeker
Road, and authorize City Attorney to draft ordinance for
further consideration by Council. Motion declared carried.
Moved by Szabo, seconded by Erbach, to adopt the recommenda-
tion of Municipal Development Committee to approve plat of
Long's Resubdivision located at 2256 Elmira Avenue, and
authorize execution thereof. Motion declared carried.
Moved by Szabo, seconded by Seitz, to adopt the recommendation
of Municipal Development Committee to approve plat of
Sakowicz Subdivision located at 100 Mt. Prospect Rd. and
to authorize execution thereof. Motion declared carried.
Moved by Szabo, seconded by Erbach, to adopt the recommenda-
tion of Municipal Development Committee that Des Plaines
participate in Department of Local Government Affairs
program to utilize 701 Funds to hire a planner to study
the Central Business District development - Des Plaines
participation to consist of funds not to exceed $2500 and
provision for desk space for one person through June 30, 1976.

R-17-75, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, AUTHORIZING SIGNATURE OF CONTRACT
WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS, THE VILLAGE
OF PALATINE AND DAVID R. OTHRED FOR PLANNING GRANT FOR
TECHNICAL AND ADVISORY PLANNING SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF DES
PLAINES UNDER SECTION 701 OF THE HOUSING ACT of 1954.

opment are more complete at which time prospective
applicants will be interviewed and a decision made.

Department to take whatever steps necessary to destroy
pigeons roosting in the area of Greco Avenue and Orchard
