04/06/1970282 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, MONDAY, APRIL 6, 1970 CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines was called to order by Mayor Herbert H. Behrel at 8:08 P.M. The meeting opened with prayer by Rev. Donald Hallberg, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. ROLL. . CALL': 'Roll Ca.11 indicated the following aldermen present: Koplos, Szabo, Prickett, Sherwood, Bolek, Leer, Figard, Hinde, Czubakowski, Wagner, Swanson, Thomas, Bonaguidi, Shillington, Michaels, Mayor. Also present were: Police Chief Hintz, Fire Chief Haag, Building Commissioner Schuepfer, City Engineer Bowen. City Comptroller arrived at 9 P.M. and City Attorney DiLeonardi. There being a quorum present, the meeting was in order. MINUTES: It was moved by Alderman Prickett, seconded by Alderman Bonaguidi, that the Minutes of the regular meeting held March 16, 1970, be approved as published. Motion declared Carried. REPORTS OF. Placed on file were the following reports: Statement of CITY OFFICIALS: Cash Receipts, January 1 to February 28; Department of Public Works, March; Engineering Department, March; Building Department, March. Police Chief Police Chief Hintz reported on the armed robbery of Clark Service Station; the aprehension of subjects involved in Dundee hold-up; the apprehension of four subjects operating a garage for stripping and assembling stolen automobiles and the recent punetu±inrg of auto tires. Fire Chief Fire Chief Haag reported that repairs to the ladder truck will cost approximately $900, including a valve job. City City Attorney DiLeonardi reported on the following Attorney cases before the courts: The suit before Circuit Court involving Police Officers Schiesow and Ziemet has been dismissed; Depositions in the Spindler Tree case will be taken April 10th; Decision in Metropolitan Sanitary District appeal will be forthcoming. Commissioner Commissioner of Public Works reported fine cooperation of Public was received from Fire and Police Departments during Works recent snow storms in removal of fallen trees and wires. Further the Department of Public Works is cooperating with Cook County Highway Department in relocation of hydrants in connection with improvement of Wolf Rd. McKay Nealis Subdivision Chestnut ST. GASOLINE EMERGENCY VEHICLES It was moved by Alderman Swanson, seconded by Alderman Wagner, to approve Plat of McKay Nealis Subdivision, located on Chestnut Street, and authorize Mayor and City Clerk to execute same upon deposit of necessary cash or bond for improvements and upon receipt of proper variations to build on lots within subdivision lacking required square foot area. Motion declared Carried. It was moved by Alderman Thomas, seconded by Alderman Bonaguidi, to concur with Fire and Police Committees' recommendation to award the bid for gasoline for emergency vehicles to the low bidder, Bulk Service Station, at a cost of 28.8 for regular and 31.7 for ethyl. It was moved by Alderman Bolek, seconded by Alderman Szabo, to defer action, until next meeting. It was moved by Alderman Swanson, seconded by Alderman Hinde, to return bid checks to all bidders. EQUIPMENT Public Works Dump Trucks It was moved by Alderman Leer, seconded by Alderman Koplos, to concur with Street, Sewer, and Finance Committees' recommendation to award the bid for three dump trucks with three plows and one spreader to the low bidder, Grand Spaulding Auto Sales, Inc., for a net amount of $25,199.00, checks of unsuccessful bidders to be returned. Four -Way Alderman Czubakowski's request for four-way stop signs Stops' at the intersections of Illinois and Riverview and Illinois- Illinois and Prospect Avenue was referred to the Traffic Riverview Commission and Streets and Traffic Committee for study Prospect and report. Spruce St. Alderman Czubakowski's request for No Parking on Spruce Street, south of Oakton, Friday evening and Saturday morning was referred to the Traffic Commission and Streets and Traffic Committee for study and report.
