MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN
THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL,
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1970
CALL TO ORDER: The Special Meeting of the City Council was called
to order by Mayor Herbert H. Behrel, who announced
that notices of this Special Meeting were delivered
by Police Vehicles on Friday, November 20, 1970,
at 7:30 P.M.
ROLL CALL:
Roll Call indicated the following aldermen present:
Koplos, Prickett, Sherwood, Hinde, Czubakowski,
Wagner, Swanson, Thomas, Bonaguidi, Shillington.
Alderman O'Brien arrived immediately after roll call.
There being a quorum present, the meeting was in order.
RESIGNATION: Moved by Sherwood, seconded by Thomas, to accept
Building the resignation of Raymond Schuepfer as Building
Commissioner Commissioner effective immediately. Motion
declared Carried.
APPOINT Moved by Wagner, seconded by Koplos, to concur with
Acting Mayor Behrel's appointment of City Engineer Robert
Bldg. Comm. Bowen as Acting Building Commissioner until another
appointment is made. Motion declared Carried.
Alderman Szabo and Alderman Michaels arrived immediately prior to
the vote on the previous question.
PUBLIC WORKS Moved by Szabo, seconded by Prickett, to concur with
BUILDING Building and Grounds and Finance Committees' recommenda-
ADDITION tion to award the bid for the addition to the Public
Works Building to the low bidder, Midway Construction
and:Engineering Co., in the amount of $79,000.00 and
return checks or bonds of the unsuccessful bidders.
Prior to the vote Alderman Seitz Arrived at the meeting.
Upon roll call, the vote was:
AYES: - 15 - Koplos, Szabo, Prickett, Sherwood,
O'Brien, Hinde, Czubakowski, Wagner,
Swanson, Thomas, Bonaguidi, Seitz,
Shillington, Michaels, Mayor.
NAYS: 0 - None
ABSENT: 2 - Bolek, Leer
There being fifteen affirmative votes, Motion
declared Carried.
Alderman Bolek arrived at the meeting at this time. He questioned
the liquor license approved by the City Council at its last regular
meeting to be issued to Proposed Banquet facility owner at 733 Lee
Street, on the basis of the property line extending into the building,
at which time the Mayor answered that the license had not been issued
and would not be issued until the problem had been resolved.
ADJOURNMENT: Moved by Prickett, seconded by Sherwood that the
Special Meeting of the City Council adjourn.
Motion declared Carried.
