08/17/1964601 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF DES PLAINFS HEIR IN THE COUNCIL ROOM, CITY HALL, AUGUST 17,-1964 at 8:00 P.M. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Herbert H. Behrel, the City Clerk being absent, the Deputy City Clerk called the roll with Alderman Maran, Bonaguidi, Szabo, Prickett, Luellen, Leer, Shillington, Figard, QTzubakowski, Swanson and. French responding to roll call. The meeting was opened with a prayer by the Mayor and then the pledge of allegiance to the flag._ _ APPROVAL OF MINUTES: On a motion by Alderman Prickett and seconded by Martin the Council approved the minutes of August 3, 1964. OFFICIAL DEPORTS: The .Deputy City Clerk submitted the report of Comptroller for K1717 7174. 4. Co issioner Regnell made a progress report on Krilich Builders. A bid frau George Knight Construction, Des Plaines was returned unopened, for City • Garage repairs, as the bid was not reaevertised. FIRE STATION NO. 2 ROOF REPAIR: On a motion by Alderman Bonaguidi and second by Swanson, the Council concurred in opening the following bids: George Knight, Des Plaines Hans Rosenow Roofing, Chicago Base Bid Alternate 4,729.00 528.00 3,344.00 480.00 On a motion by Alderman Figard and second by Czubakowski, the Council concurred in referring the above bid to the Fire. and Finance Committees and Fire Chief for study and report. ADVERTISE BIDS FOR 62 -CS: On a motion by Alderman French and second by Luellen the Council concurred in advertising bids -for Section 62 -CS returnable September 8, 1964. Engineer Fletcher made a progress report on Thacker and Mt. Prospect traffic signals and Terrace School sidewalk. PROTEST RESOLUTION ON COUNTY DOCKET 767: On a motion by Alderman Luellen and second by Leer the Council, concurred in City Attorney preparing resolution for legal protest to County Clerk and Zoning Board of Appeals on County Docket 767. Attorney Di Leonardi made several progress reports. After a lengthy discussion of building permit'for northwest corner of Oakton and Wolf, it was referred to the Building Control and Inspection. Committee for study and -report. Alderman Shillington was granted a five minute recess.' AWARD FLOOR T ILE,BID: After reconvening, the motion was made by Alderman Shillington and seconded by Figard to award the Floor Tile Bid to the Lutz Floor Tile Company at $594.00. The Mayor put, the question and the Deputy City Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Alderman Martin,.Bonaguidi,Szabo,.Prickett, Luellen, Leer, Shillington, Figard, Czubakowski, Swanson and French. AWARD REMODELING COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE BID: The motion was made by Alderman Shillington and seconded,by Figard to award the bid for remodeling the'Comptrollerts office to Peter A. Johnson and Son, at $1,451.00. Nays: None. The Mayor declared the motion carried, Superintendent Wernicke was instructed to secure an estimate on repair to front steps of City Hall. RETIRE 1954 REFUNDING, , WATER REVENUE BONDS: Alderman Figard read the following: "In the preparation of the new Water Revenue Bond Issue, Benjamin and tang have informed us that there are $14,000 of 4-1/2% Refunding Water Revenue Bonds from an old issue that should be retired. Presently, these bonds are duo: $7,000 on January 1, 1965 $7,000 on January 1, 1966 "Authority from our City Council is necessary to retire these bonds with accrued interest is maturity (January 1, 1966), total value $14,630.00. Sufficient funds are available in the City's Water Revenue Bonds' Redemption Account. "Your Water Committee therefore recommends that the City Comptroller's office be authorized to'issus a chock in the amount prescribed when the bonds are offered for delivery." The motion vas made by Alderman Figard and seconded by Shillington to authorize payment of $14,630.00 on 1954 4-3/2 % Refunding Water Revenue Bond. OPEN BIDS ON STREETS PAVEMENT:' On motion by Alderman Wright and seconded by Szabo the Clerk was instructed. to open the abovebids..The bide were referred to Engineer and a State official to check so Council could take action on awarding the bid. OFFICIAL REPORTS: The Clerk submitted the reports of R. Koine, Director of Civil Defense, Health Department, and Comptroller. for July and August. Also a six month report of receipts and disbursmente of the Comptroller's office was sutmitted. Attorney Di Leonardi made several verbal reports. Alderman Shillington appeared at this time. Superintendent.Warnicke reported he had a caller who offered to purchase the Higgins Water Tank. The Mayor referred this to the Water Committee. APPROVE GRANT OF EASEMENT OAK LEE.
