ESSER JUDGMENT CASE LETTER: The Mayor referred the, above letter to the Judiciary Committee and City Attorney. MARTIN CAB LETTER: The above letter was referred to the. License and Inspection Committee. INCREASE IN ALDERMAN SALARY: Alderman Prickett reported on salary increase for Aldermen to $25.00 per meeting. The motion waa made by Alderman Prickett and seconded by Shillington to increase the salary. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Mayor Herbert H. Behrel, with Alderman Swanson, French, Martin, Bonaguidi, Figard and Czubakowski,r?te, to rSlabo;Prickett, Luellen, Shillington responding to roll call. The meeting was opened with a prayer by Rev. Buck. Alderman Swanson, who has just received the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Reserve, lead the pledge to the flag. OPEN BIDS ON INSTALLATION OF SIDEWALKS: On motion by Alderman Shillington and seconded by Swanson, the Clerk was instructed to open the above bids. The following bids were received. Paolo Lake and Co., Elmwood Park 68 cents per sq. ft. Robert Russell, Des Plaines 85 cents per sq. ft. Northside Communications, Dundde, I11. ANNEXATION APPROVED: Alderman Martin made the following report: "Your Committee on Municipal Development has investigated the above and has found that the subject property is adjacent to the City Limits of the City of Des Plaines. Plat shows the property tote on the north side of Oakton Street, west of Mt. Prospect Rd. and OtHare Park Subdivision. We, your Committee on Municipal Development there- fore recommend annexation per the request of Joseph'Szczesny after proper certi- fied petition for annexation is submitted by Joseph Szczesny." On motion by Alderman Martin and seconded by French, the Council concurred in the report. AWARD STATION WAGON BID TO DES PLAINES MOTOR SALES: Alderman Rateike made the following report: "Your Committee on Fire and Finance has investigated the above and has found Des .Plaines Motor Sales, Inc. meet all specifications and they are low bidder at $2,658.00. We, your Committee, therefore recommend that City Comptroller be authorized to order 1964 station wagon from the above agency to serve as Squad No. 3 to be statiowdi t No. 3." TO ADVERTISE BIDS FOR TWO TRUCKS SANITATION DEPT.: Alderman Swanson made the following report: "Purchase of new truck with low mount dump body and hydraulically operated tail gate. Trade in truck # 34 for new truck and Packer body.' Trade in Truck No. 17 on dump truck with hydraulically operated tail gate. Your Committee on Sanitation has investigated the above and has found that there is a real need for a low mount dump truck with a hydraulically operated tail gate for making special 524 -3- J/4/64 pick-ups and that truck No. 34, now eight years old, has passed the state of economical operation. Truck No. 17 is completely out of use. We, your Committee on Sanitation therefore recommend that the City Clerk advertise for bids for the above mentioned trucks and that the Superintendent of Public Works draw the specifications." On motion by Alderman Swanson and seconded by Rateike, the Council approved the report. TO ADVERTISE BIDS FOR STREET SWEEPER TRUCK AND LADDER: On motion by Alderman French and seconded by Luellen, the Council approved to advertise bids for street sweeper, truck and ladder, specifications to be drawn by Superintendent with bids to be returned May 18th. APPROVE SEVERAL DRIVEWAYS: Alderman French made the following report: "1) 30? and 30' drives to Touhy and Wolf Rd. (J.W. Butler Paper Co. 2) 70', 45'•and 45' drives to Third Ave. (Kelly Springfield) 3),36' and 40' drives to Third Ave. (0 and M Products) 4) 32' and 30' drives to Lee St. (Burger King) Your Committee on Streets and Traffic has investigated the above and has found drives proposed are appropriate.to industrial and commercial uses proposed, except for proposed two-way drives at Burger King. We, your Committee on Streets and Traffic, there- fore recommend Superintendent of Public Works issue necessary permits but direct Burger King Co. to limit ingress to one drive and egress to the other one-way traffic." On motion by Alderman French and seconded by Swanson, the Council approved the report. TO ADVERTISE BIDS ARTERIAL STREET REPAIR: On motion by Alderman French and seconded by Rateike, bids are to be advertised on arterial street repair. TO INSTALL "YIELD" SIGNS ON DRAKE LANE: On motion by Alderman French and seconded by Martin the Council approved to install "yield" signs on Drake iane to yield to Cambridge. On motion by Alddrman Martin and seconded by Luellen, the Mayor is to write a letter to'County Highway Department that the City will cooperate with County on project at Mt. Prospect Road and Dempster St. MINER ST. AND BUSSE HIGHWAY PROJECT: On motion'by Alderman Luellen and seconded by Rateike the City will accept to work with State Highway Department regarding the project at Busse Highway and Miner St. The Mayor referred a letter of September 17, 1963 from C. and N.W. Railway to the Parking Meter Committee regarding leasing or buying railroad property for parking. TO ADVERTISE BIDS FOR 100 CAR STOPS: On motion by Alderman Luellen and seconded by Rateike, the Council approved to advertise bids for 100 car stops. Alderman Luellen called a meeting for May 18th at 7:30 P.M. of Elm Tree Committee. ALTERNATE PARKING ON STREETS: Alderman French made the following report: "Pine St. - Howard to Highland; Ash St. -Howard to Fargo; Fargo - Chestnut to Ash. Your Committee on City Code has investigated the above and has found Pine has parking prohibited on west side fro Everett to Prospect. Other streets appear to conform to alternate parking city code provisions. We, your Committee on City Code therefore recommend City Attorney draw app ropriate ordinance to effect no parking for one side of Pine, Ash and Fargo on alternate years or apply other formula within provision at ordinance Section 10-5-17." On motion by Alderman French and seconded by Luellen, the Council approved the report. HATTIE RAACK CASE: The motion was made by Alderman Bonaguidi and seconded by Swanson to make check payable for injury case to Hattie Raack and Herman Raack, her husband and Thomas Crowley, their attorney, total $375.00. .The Mayor put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Alderman Rateike, Szabo, Prickett, Luellen, Shillington, Figard, Czubakowski, French, Swanson, Martin and Bonaguidi.
