ADOPT RESOLUTION IN CONVICTION WITH PURCHASE OF 825 GRACELAND AVE.PROPERTY: The
Clerk presented the above resolution. The motion was made by Alderman Wright and
seconded by Figard to adopt the resolution. The Mayor put the question and the

RESOLUTION FOR EASEMENT BY COMMONWEALTH EDISON COMPANY: The Clerk presented the
above resolution for easement east line Mount Prospect Road. The motion was made
by Shillington and seconded by Figard to adopt the resolution. The Mayor put the
question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Alderman
Rateike, Szabo, Wright, Prickett, Luellen, Leer, Shillington, Figard, Carroll,

reading the above ordinance. On motion by Alderman Luellen and seconded by
Shillington, the ordinance was placed on passage. The motion was made by Alderman
Luellen and seconded by Shillington to adopt the ordinance. The Mayor put the
question and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Alderman

RESIGNATION OF ROBERT S. CURRIER FROM LIBRARY BOARD: The Mayor read the above
letter of resignation and on motion by Alderman Wright and seconded by French, the
Council accepted the resignation.
At the request of the Seventh Ward Aldermen, the Mayor referrOd to the Street
Committee about "yield" signs at the intersection of Cambridge Road and Drake
Lane. Drake to yield to Cambridge.

Alderman Czubakowski presented a petition regarding a building permit application
in Dexter Acres. Attorney Di Leonardi read a letter to the Building Commissioner
not to issue the permit.
The Mayor referred to the Street Committee about left turns in business district
and parking on Lee St.
ADJOURNMENT: • The motion was made by Alderman Prickett and seconded by Luellen to

CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES,
ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE COUNCIL ROOM, MARCH
2, 1964 at 8:00 P.M.
CALL TO ODER: The meeting was called to order by Alderman Prickett as Mayor
Pro Tem, who presided due to absence of the Mayor, with Alderman Czubakowski,
Swanson, Martin Bonaguidi, Rateike, Prickett, Wright, Leer, Shillington and Figard
responding to roll call.
The meeting was opened by a prayer fromRev. Grant and then a pledge to the flag.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: On motion by Alderman Rateike and seconded by Martin, the
minutes of the February 17, 1964 meeting were approved by the Council.

OFFICIAL REPORTS: The Clerk submitted the report of. Health Officer Jean Branding
for February and the annual -report of ,Superintendent Wernicke and City Engineer.
Alderman Carroll appeared at this time.
Alderman Wright reported the City Attorney was completing the purchase of property
for Library and made the motion which was seconded by Carroll to approve for
payment of $26,621.10. The Mayor pro tem put the question and the Clerk called
the roll with the following results: Ayes: Alderman Rateike,Wright, Prickett,
Leer, Carroll, Shillington, Figard, Czubakowski, Swanson, Martin and Bonaguidi.
Nays: None. The Mayor pro tem declared the motion carried.
The motion was made by Alderman Bonaguidi and seconded by Czubakowski to retain
City Attorney Di Leonardi for the Golden Manor Case, which was approved by
the Council.
The motion was made'by Alderman Martin and seconded by Shillington to retain the
City Attorney to continue to defend the Kuntze Case about Beau Drive and Court.
The Mayor pro tem put the question and the Clerk called the roll with the follow-
ing results: Ayesi Alderman Rateike, Wright, Prickett, Icer, Shillington, Figard,
Carroll, Czubakowski, Swanson, Martin and Bonaguidi. Nays: None. The Mayor pro
tem declared the motion 'tarried.
A letter from the Health Inspector to amend ordinance on garbage receptacles was
referred to the City Attorney.
The motion was made by Alderman Icer and seconded by Rateike to install "yield"
signs on Lincoln to yield to White St. The motion was approved by the Council.
Alderman Leer reported that no decision be made on four-way stop signs on Lee
and Howard until effect of reduced speed is known.
Alderman Icer made the following report:` We, your Committee on Traffic recommend
that no action be taken at present on traffic at Third Ave. west and north of
Rand Road. If problem,cdntinues after completion of industrial development,
further study will be required. 'te recommend that this matter be referred back
to the Traffic Commission for study of load limits for these residential streets."
Alderman Icer reported on Soo Line crossing at Woodlawn Ave. that the Traffic
Commission be allowed to make further investigation and give their opinion of
this crossing.
Alderman Leer reported regarding placing "stop" sign at White and Riverview Ave.,
that no change be made in the "yield" signs at this intersection.
Alderman Leer reported to refer back to the Traffic Commission for'further study
regarding "yield" signs at Cambridge and Drake Lane.
TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR WATER COIN TION TO WATER TANK: Alderman Figard made
the following report: "Mr. Mayor and Members of the City Council, concurrence
is requested to advertise for bids for water main to connect Well No. 7 to the
elevated tank and elevated tank to the water system. Bids to be returned March
16, 1964." On motion by Alderman Figard and seconded by Shillington, the Council
concurred in the report. The Mayor pro tem put the question and the Clerk called
the roll with the following results: Ayes: Alderman Rateike, Wright, Prickett,
doer, Shillington, Figaro, Carroll, Czubakowski, Swanson, Martin and Bonaguidi.
Nays: None. The Mayor pro tem declared the motion carried.
The motion was made by Alderman Figard and seconded by Shillington to advertise
bids.for water, connection with Mt. Prospect. The motion and second was with-
drawn and on a motian'by Alderman Rateike and second by Martin, it was re-
ferred to the Water and Finance Committees, also to include about meter with
Park Ridge connection.
TO ADVERTISE BIDS FOR CLEANING CATCH•BASINS: On motion by Alderman Leer and
seconded by Bonaguidi, the Council approved to advertise bids to clean 1,000
catch basins.
APPROVAL OF BILLS: Alderman Swanson presented the following resolution:

Plan Commission.
CONTRACT 'DOR SEWER AND WATER MAIN DOREEN DRIVE: The above contract was referred
to the Sewer and Water Committees and City Engineer.
A letter from'Alderman Shillington regarding branch libraries was referred to
the Library Committee to have discussion with Library Board.
At request of Alderman Czubakowski, an ordinance from another City regarding
the distribution of hand bills was referred to the License and Inspection
Committee.
The annexation of Bluettis Sub. was referred to the Municipal Development
Committee.
A letter from Russ Mueller of Orchard Lake Hanes. commending the City Departments
when they constructed their buildings in their subdivision was placed on file.
A letter from the Department of Public Health of Springfield on inspection of
trailer parks was placed on file.
