THE C 1TY COUNCILORS PIA INES, ILLINOIS
HELD IN THE COUNCIL ROOM, CITY HAIL,
TUESDAY, APRIL 24, 1962 at 8:00 P.M.
CALL TO ORDER: The Meeting -was called to order by Mayor Herbert H. Behrel with
Alderman Blume, Wright, Luellen, Moehling, Flauter, Figard, Prickett, Tistle,
Jackson and Bonaguidi responding to roll call.
The Mayor informed the Council the meeting was adjourned to receive a report. from
the Civil Defense Committee -regarding letter from the Federal Aviation Agency.
Alderman Moehling made'the following report: "Your Committee on Aernautic Control
has investigated the above and has found that the City'of Des Plaines has no real
objections to -the use by the Flying. Carpet Motor Inn of the air space above the
area surrounding the Motor Inn for heliport purposes, since helicopters for this
use will not greatly add to the already existing noise level in the residential
and commercial areas in Des Plaines and the air traffic will not interfere with
any contemplated control by the city of Des Plaines of air traffic in this area.
We, Your Committee on Aernautic Control, therefore recommend that the Federal
Aviation Agency be informed by the Mayor or City Clerk of Des Plaines that this
Council wishes to register no objections to the establishment of a heliport at
the Flying Carpet motor Inn. " On motion by Alderman Moehling and seconded by
Bonaguidi to concur in the report.
Alderman Bell appeared at the time of the discussion.
TO PURCHASE VALVES: The motion was'made by Alderman Flauter and seconded by Figard
to purchase more valves, total $4,900.00 from Advance Construction Company who
had been awarded the bid previously on same valves. The Mayor put the question
and the Clerk called the roll with the following results: Ayes: Alderman Blume
Wright, Luellen, Moehling, Flauter, Figard, Prickett, Tistle, Bell, Jackson
and Bonaguidi. The Mayor declared the motion carried.
TOWN AND COUNTRY TRAILER PARK REQUEST FOR WATER: The Mayor referred a letter
from the above requesting water from the city.
DEATH OF CHARLES FORBE G: The Mayor informed the Council of the death of Charles
Forberg. He was a member of the Traffic Commission since 1941.
ADJOUR MENT: The Motion was made by Alderman Prickett and seconded by Figard
to adjourn. The motion vas approved by acclamation vote.
