If the city of Des Plaines receives corresponding lower bids on re -advertising, the savings to the City would greatly exceed the -cost of such re -advertising. - "Since the original proposal was advertised for bids it has been called to the attention of this committee that the street surface surrounding the catch basin has on some occasions been left in rather sloveiy condition; it is therefore re- commended that a further specification be added to the proposal on which the bids are to be advertised to require the contractor to clean up the area surrounding the catch basin by washing the debris into the sewer. The City employee working with the contractor should be instructed by the Superintendent of Public Works to check the completion of each job before going to the next catch basin. "We, your Committee on Sewer,' therefore recommend that this Council reject all of -the bids received under its prior advertising and re -advertise for cleaning 1,000 catch basins in the city of Des Plaines, at a per diem rate,.bids re- turnable April 16, 1962. A further requirement be added to the specifications requesting that the contractor -bidder submit a list of cities in which it previously performed -catch basin cleaning."
