REGULAR MEETING. OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS HELD IN COUNCIL
ROOM. CITY HALL JULY 5..1960 AT 8:00 P.M.
The City Clerk called the meeting to order and there being no quorum ajourned
the meeting to July 11, 1960 at 8:00 P.M.

CITY HALL JULY 11. 196.E AT 8:00 P.M.
CALL TO ORDER. The meeting was called to order, by Mayor Herbert H.Behrel witb
Alderman Jackson, Callaghan, Blume, Wright, Neff, Moehling, Flauter, Figard,
Prickett, Tistle, Massman and Bell responding to roll call.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES. The motion was made by Aderman Prickett and seconded by
Messman to approve the minutes of June 20, 1960. The motion was voted upon
by acclamation.
OPEN GASOLINE BIDS. On motion by AlderMan Messman and second.by Blume the Clerk
opetted the bids on gasoline. Five bids were received and on motion by Alderman
Bell and second by Massman the bids were referrOd to the Finance Committee
and Superintendent Wernicke.
OPEN BIDS FOR REPAIRS TO PARKING LOT. On motion by.Alderman Prickett and
second by Massman the.Clerk opened above bids:
Milburn Bros. $ 2,550.00
Skokie Valley Asphalt Co 2,970.00
On motion by Alderman Prickett and second by Massman the bids were referred
to Parking Meter and Finance Committees and City Engineer and Superintendent.
OFFICIAL REPORTS. The Clerk submitted his report for June, Building Commissioners
and Nurse and Welfare, also, Health Department report for June. quarter.
Attorney Dowd made progress report on Barry and Park Ridge cases.
ADVERTISE BIDS ON MOTOR FUEL TAX FUNDS. At Engineer Fletcher's request and on
motion by Alderman Jackson and second by Massman, the Council approved to
advertise for bids on street repairs from Motor Fuel Tax Funds to be returned
August 1, 1960.
Alderman Bell requested that the City write to S.J.Layfer to attend the July 27th
meeting regarding vacation of alley at Princeton Avenue.
DENY REZONING AT.GOLF AND POTTER ROADS. Alderman Bell'made the following report:
Your Committee on Municipal Development has investigated and found residents of
the area were heard and pointed out the burden a multi -family development of
thetjpe planned would inflict on the single family residential neighborhood.
Petitioners are uncertain as to the type of commerical development planned for
the area indicated for rezoning. We, your Committee therefore recommend:. Zoning
board reports, suggesting denial of rezoning, be concurred in. Re -zoning of
area to commerical and multi -family be denied. The motion Was made by Alderman
Bell and seconded by,Blume to concur in the rpport. After discussion.<thil:motion
aaecmade by'.AldermanwTidtle and se.eoaded:.by;.Callaghan to table the rpport. The
Mayor put the question and the Clerk,called the roll with the following results: Ayes:
Alderman Callaghan, Wright and Tistle. Nays: Alderman Blume, Neff; Moehling,
Flauter, Figard, Prickett, Massman, Bell and Jackson. The Mayor declared the
motion lost and put the question on the previous motion. The motion was voted
upon by acclamation.
