CALL TO ORDER: The meetin was Lealled to order by Mayor Herbert H. Behrel with Alderman Flauter, Figard,ickett, Tistle, Massman, Bell, Jackson, Callaghan, Rateike, Blume, Tures, Wright and Callaghan respondingato roll call. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The motion was made by Alderman Prickett and seconded by Massman to approve.the minutes of November 16 and adjourned meeting of November 23, 1959. The motion was voted upon by acclamation. OFFICIAL REPORTS: The Clerk submitted the reports of•the Clerk -and Building Commissioner for November. Alderman Neff appeared at this time. Attorney Dowd reported that Park Ridge had filed suit against Des Plaines regard- ing Prasses property which they claim was a part of Park Ridge when annexed by Des Plaines. The motion was maddirto retain Attorney Dowd for the case. APPROVE WRIGHTIS SUBDIVISION: Alderman Bell reported the following: T"Your Committee on Municipal Developmenthas investigated the above and has found, the Plan Commission has appro ved the subdivision. Septic tanks for all three lots are'planned since percolation tests have been approved. Area of each lot exceeds minimum requirements for septic tanks. Water is available to all lots. We, your Committee on Municipal Development, therefore recommend approval of subdivision upon receipt of performance bond for extending water main full length of property facing Busse Highway, Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to.sign." On motion by Alderman Bell and seconded by Blume the Council approved the report. IAlderman.Bell made a progress report on three Rand Road annexations that the Zoning Board will have zoning hearings on the property. REZONING N. E. CORNER OF WOLF RD. AND CENTRAL RD. APPROVED: Alderman Bell reported the following: "Your Committee on Municipal Development has investigated the above and has found, parcel consists of one lot on N.E. corner that was reserved for commercial use at the time subdivision was platted. Homes planned for the surround- ing area are not yet built but will be screened by protective fence and plantings. No other corner of this intersection contains any gas stations. We, your Committee on Municipal Development, therefore recommend property be rezoned C-2 as recommended by Zoning Board. Ordinance now on first reading be approved." DOOLY'S REQUEST TO SUBDIVIDE DENIED: Alderman Bell reported that Parcel B does not have required square feet tobe diyided into separate lot. Plan C onimission recommends refusal of .this subdivision. The Municipal Development Committee recommends request to subdivide as shown on plat be denied. On motion by Alderman Prickett and seconded by Blume, the Council concurred in recommendation. STREET VACATION - COR.NELL AVE. APPROVED: Alderman -Bell reported the following: "Your Committee on Municipal. Development has investigated the above and has found, the flan Commission has suggested vacation of the 33 feet street to prevent double frontage lots between Clayton lane and Cornell. Subdivider is dedicating a full, 66 foot street, 10O feet west of street to be vacated. He is also dedicating a 33 foot half street on the south end of his property to join Cornell Ave. We, your Committee on Municipal Development, therefore recommend vacation be approved as shown. Vacation ordinance now on first reading be approved." On motion by Alderman Bell and seconded by Blume, the Council approved the recommendation. Alderman Bell made a progress report on Bell -Aire Acres annexation. FIRE DISTRICT CONTRACTS FOR 1960 APPROVED: Alderman Tistle reported the following amounts on.fire district contracts. North Maine $8,500.00 South Maine 10,000.00 Park Ridge Manor 2,500.00 Hawthorne -Rand 1,750.00 The motion -was made by Alderman Tistle and seconded by Figard to approve the contracts. A letter regarding cleaning Lee Street underpass was reffered to the Street Committee and Supt. Warnicke. To advertise bids for Zoning Code: On motion. by Alderman Neff and seconded by Moehling, the .Council approved to advertise for bids on printing Zoning Code by local printers with bids to be returned at January 4th meeting. APPROVAL OF BILLS: Alderman Prickett read the following proposed resolution: BE 'IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES THAT THE FOLLOWING BILLS ARE DUE AND PAYABLE AND THAT THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL BE AND ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO MAKE PAYMENT FOR SAME. The Council referred to the Streets Committee and Supt. Warnicke about changing street parking to 10 feet. Supt. Warnicke is to contact State Highway regarding w arning signs "school" at Lee amd Perry and at River Road and Perry. EIMER PASSOW, 1530 CAMPBELL AVE. APPOINTED TO LIBRARY BOARD: The Council approved the above appointment madeby the Mayor on motion by Alderman Neff and seconded by Blume. A letter from A. B. Levan, M.D. regarding traffic was referred to the Street Committee and Supt, Warnicke. TO HOOD IEE STREET METERS: On motion by Alderman Jackson and seconded by Massman, the.Council approved.to hood fourteen parking meters on the east side of Lee Street from Prairie to Thacker Streets, on Friday nights and Saturday mornings until noon until after January 1st.
