04/04/19771 1 140 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CIVIC CENTER, MONDAY, APRIL 4, 1977 CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines was called to order by Acting Mayor Charles J. Bolek at 8:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers, Des Plaines Civic Center ROLL CALL: Roll Call indicated the following aldermen present: Koplos, Szabo, Sullivan, Olen, Brannigan, Birchfield, Erbach, Kraves, Sarlo, Seitz, Ward, Bolek. Aldermen Kisslinger and Meyer arrived immediately following roll call. Absent were Aldermen Leer and Abrams Also present were: City Comptroller Blietz, City Engineer Bowen, Director of Zoning and Planning Richardson, Acting Building Commissioner Trost, Fire Chief Corey, Police Chief Hintz, Commissioner of Public Works Schwab, Environmental Officer Lindahl, and City Attorney Hug. PRAYER AND The meeting opened with the Lord's Prayer, followed by the PLEDGE Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. MINUTES Moved by Seitz, seconded by Sarlo, to approve the Minutes of the regular meeting held March 21, 1977, as published. Correction, Page seven paragraph 2, strike "Seitz's" and insert "Meyer's"; Page four, final paragraph questioned by Alderman Birchfield and Clerk directed to obtain complete transcript from tape for review by City Council. Following corrections, motion declared carried. Moved by Kisslinger, seconded by Meyer, to authorize Mayor and City Clerk to execute Yearly Resolution with Illinois Department of Transportation for Maintenance of certain streets with MFT Funds. Mayor Bolek reported that a meeting was held with Mr. Monihan re use of CETA employees stating that in the last two years the City of Des Plaines has received $450,000 administered by Cook County using Des Plaines residents as CETA employees. LEFT TURN Alderman Koplos's request for left turn signals at Rand SIGNALS and Dempster, for traffic turning east from Rand Road was Rand & Dempster referred to the City Engineer. TREASURER DUTIES Moved by Kisslinger, seconded by Koplos, to authorize City Attorney to draft necessary ordinance describing duties of City Treasurer. Motion declared carried.
