MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE ELEANOR ROHRBACH MEMORIAL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, DES PLAINES CIVIC CENTER, MONDAY, JANUARY 18, 1988 CALL TO ORDER: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines, Illinois, was called to order by Mayor John E. Seitz at 8:06 P.M. in the Eleanor Rohrbach Memorial Council Chambers, Des Plaines Civic Center on Monday, January 18, 1988. Roll Call indicated the following Aldermen present: Muehlenbeck, Childers, Christiansen, Bonk, Healy, Wetter, Schneck, Kisslinger, Adams, Hardiman, Sarlo, Chiropolos, Addante, Hervas, Haupt. Alderman Gebert was absent. Also present were: City Treasurer Fredricks, City Comptroller Peters, Commissioner of Public Works Matula, Fire Chief Clark, Police Chief Kozenczak, Municipal Development Director Pagones, Human Resources and Services Director Donahue, City Engineer Shrake, Administrative Officer Wildenberg and City Attorney Smith. The opening prayer was given by Father Edward Maraczewski, Holy Family Hospital Pastoral Care, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Moved by Childers, seconded by Bonk, to approve Minutes of the regular meeting of the City Council held January 4, 1988, as published. Motion declared carried. TRAFFIC SIGNAL/ Moved by Schneck, seconded by Muehlenbeck, to adopt the LEE & THACKER: recommendation of the Finance Committee to approve emergency expenditure of $8,650 to H & H Electric Co., 2830 Commerce Street, Franklin Park, IL 60131, for repair of traffic signal at Lee and Thacker Streets. PROSPECT: PAGE THREE 289. 1/18/88 PARKING Moved by Chiropolos, seconded by Christiansen, to adopt RESTRICTIONS/ recommendation of the Engineering Committee that one hour PEARSON ST.: parking be allowed on the east side of Pearson Street from Ellinwood Street south to the alley adjacent to the Centel building from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., and City Attorney be authorized to draft necessary ordinance. Moved by Kisslinger, seconded by Addante, to adopt the recommendation of the Municipal Development Committee to concur with recommendation from Des Plaines Zoning Board of Appeals re Case 87 -45 -R to grant request for rezoning from R -2 Single Family Residence District to C -2 Commercial District and variation for 5' rear yard setback and eliminate need for alley; petitioner to install solid fence at west end of property and have one new curb cut on Lee Street all in accordance with City's building code and regulations, for property located at 1424 Lee Street; and City Attorney be authorized to draft necessary ordinance. ZONING CASE 88 -1 -RV/ 1501 D.P. RIVER ROAD: Letter from Des Plaines Zoning Board of Appeals re Case 99 -1 -RV, 1501 Des Plaines River Road (George Wade) was referred to the Municipal Development Committee. Alderman Bonk presented a petition from residents in the area of 1501 -1483 Des Plaines River Road objecting to the rezoning of this property. He also presented a letter from Vivian Wagner, 1899 Berry Lane, recommending that this land be purchased as a park /preserve for the enjoy- ment of Des Plaines residents and asked that a copy of this letter be sent to the Des Plaines Park District for their consideration.
